Northstar EMS (NEMS) began operations in April of 1992 with just a handful of dedicated employees and two ambulances servicing Northport, Alabama. The company was founded with a mission to “Provide Excellence in Emergency Medicine.”
Today, NEMS is recognized as Alabama’s largest EMS provider. NEMS has grown to become a dynamic EMS service provider focused not only on patient care initiatives, but also excellence in EMS dispatch, EMS Safety, Continuous Quality Improvement, EMS Billing Practices and Customer Service.
NEMS was recently asked to expand further to service the entire county, rather than just their single municipality. With the large addition of coverage area, NEMS was asked to establish an additional base in a nearby city.
NEMS already relied on Atlas to supply its medical gases for its current service area, so when the assistant manager was tasked with adding a new base within a short time frame, he reached out to Atlas Sales Representative George Kizzire to explain their growing medical gas needs.

George phoned me the week of our opening with everything that I needed to be operational and even offered to set everything up. It is rare to receive this type of personal service in my occupation, but it could not have come at a better time. George has set the bar very high and I am grateful to have him as my Sales Representative.
