Mitchell Welding Supply of Terrell, Texas, has been proudly serving the DFW Metroplex for over 40 years. Several years after graduating from East Texas State University, founder Benson Mitchell joined forces with his brother-in-law, the late James Briggs, forming Mitchell Welding Supply in 1968. With only 4 employees, counting himself and his wife as the company bookkeeper, Benson remembers “doing whatever needed to be done” in the early years.
Over those years, Benson Mitchell has witnessed the welding industry change dramatically since Mitchell Welding Supply first opened its doors. In the late 1960′s, no one worked with specialized gases—fast forward to 2010 and they are best sellers. So successful that in order to take care of their customers’ changing needs, Mitchell began mixing and pumping different gases on-site to better serve his clientele.
Staying current and in touch with industry changes has been vital to this small business’ success. The addition of dedicated family members to the organization has resulted in MWS adapting the cutting edge technologies their customers ask for and require. Whether the needs are plasma cutters, lasers or robotics, MWS is the established choice for the local welding industry. In addition, Benson and his team recognize the importance of onsite professionals who can service these machines and blend the gases necessary for top performance. As a testimony to their success, MWS proudly conducts business with many of the same companies that purchased from them when they first opened up in the ’60′s – as well as second generation customers, too. So much so that they proudly opened additional locations in Seagoville and Garland to meet their growing customer demand. In early 2023, Mitchell pursued and won a bankruptcy transaction and acquired the former MagneGas/Tyler Welding business in East Texas, Louisiana and Indiana.
Although times have progressed Mitchell Welding Supply continues to remain a key distributor in today’s market; however, our values and work ethic have not changed since 1968. With Benson Mitchell at the helm and valued family members backing him up every step of the way, this business sets the standard for superior customer service in the welding supply industry.
