About City Carbonic

Since 1909, City Carbonic has been a trusted provider of comprehensive gas services across Oklahoma, serving industries that depend on high-quality, reliable gas solutions. As Oklahoma’s largest requalification facility, we uphold rigorous safety and service standards to support various sectors, from healthcare and beverage services to plant cultivation and municipal services. Our legacy is a true reflection of dedication to precision, safety and responsiveness.

Serving Oklahoma Since 1909: The City Carbonic Story

Our journey began in 1909 as Brian Battie Co., a soda fountain service company distributing fountain syrup and carbon dioxide gas to restaurants, drug stores and taverns. In 1944, Lawrence Amzy Morgan purchased the company and, two years later, renamed it City Carbonic Sales & Service. Recognizing the industry’s evolving needs, we transitioned into a Department of Transportation (DOT) approved hydro test facility in 1982, specializing in the service, safety and supply of compressed gas cylinders.

Key Milestones in City Carbonic History

City Carbonic’s evolution is marked by significant developments that have shaped our position in the industry:

  • Expansion into the food service industry: For over five decades, we focused on serving the food service sector, distributing carbon dioxide in high-pressure gas cylinders and supporting numerous restaurants and convenience stores across Oklahoma and neighboring states.
  • Introduction of the mini-bulk system in the 1980s: We pioneered a new method of carbon dioxide delivery in Oklahoma — the mini-bulk system.
  • Sale of delivery assets to NUCO2 in 1997: As our sales volume grew substantially, we strategically sold most of our delivery assets and customer contracts to NuCO2. This move allowed us to reinvest in a state-of-the-art requalification facility.
  • Growth as Oklahoma’s largest requalification facility: Over the past two decades, we have evolved into the largest requalification facility of our kind in Oklahoma.

Leadership and Ownership

City Carbonic is now in its third generation of family ownership. Following Lawrence Amzy Morgan’s leadership, the company transitioned to his daughter, Amy Morgan Bruecks, who became president in 2001. Under her leadership, the company continues to uphold its commitment to service excellence, safety, innovation and community.
