Extraction Grade Solvents

When you need the highest purity solvents for your extraction operation, Meritus Gas Partners delivers through our national network of independent distributors. Each partner company has decades of localized expertise while maintaining strict standards that make professional extraction possible. Our ultra-pure n-butane, propane and isobutane can cover your requirements, whether you’re processing botanical materials, creating concentrates, isolating natural compounds or producing food-grade extracts.

What sets us apart from other providers is our partnership with locally owned companies that are backed by our wealth of resources and support. While other suppliers may require you to work with corporate offices or representatives unfamiliar with your region, our partners understand your area and can respond quickly to your needs.

Extraction-Grade n-Butane, Isobutane and Propane

Our n-butane, isobutane and propane extraction-grade solvents are ultra-pure hydrocarbon gases designed for professional extraction applications. These non-odorized solvents dissolve target compounds while leaving unwanted materials behind, making them essential for creating high-quality extracts. Their low boiling points enable easy recovery and recycling, while their chemical stability delivers consistent results across multiple extraction cycles.

Each solvent has its own unique advantages — n-butane provides excellent selectivity for complex extractions, isobutane offers superior temperature control and propane delivers faster processing times. Our formulations eliminate the contaminants and odorants in many standard industrial grades, ensuring your final products meet strict quality standards without unwanted residues or off-flavors.

Network-Wide Standards With Localized Expertise

Each of our partners implements the same quality control processes to ensure your gas cylinders meet extraction-grade specifications, including:

Specialty Cylinder Packaging

Introducing the first DOT approved LP 239 Stainless Steel Cylinder. Corrosion resistant eliminating rust / particulate.

Process Controls / Quality Standards

Specialized processes to ensure purity from start to finish. Each cylinder is subjected to a proprietary cleaning process prior to fill which eliminates residual oils, particulates, metal shavings, weld slag and mill scale left over from the manufacturing process. * In a cleanliness test conducted by a third party, the stainless steel cylinder had significantly less residual oil and particulates than a standard carbon steel cylinder.

Analysis / Traceability

Analysis after each step to ensure purity and maintain quality. Cylinder serial # listed on certification (COA).

Specialty Cylinder Packaging

Every Meritus Gas partner practices strict packaging standards that deliver consistent quality regardless of your location.

Diamond Grade Stainless Steel Cylinders

These premium-grade containers eliminate contamination risks through specialized valves and internal surface treatments that prevent solvents from interacting with the container.

Carbon Steel Options

Although we recommend stainless steel for the highest purity extraction-grade solvents, we also offer cost-effective carbon steel options that minimize contamination.

Process Controls / Quality Standards

Our Procedures vs. Our Competitors

Competitors / Top Filling Refill Procedures

  • Filling gas product on top of residual gas & unknown contaminants.

Gas Innovations Refill Procedures

  • Evacuation – Residual product removed
  • Inspection – Internal wash if necessary
  • Vacuum – Remove air / moisture
  • Fill – Max allowed by DOT
  • Analysis – Certified product (COC)

Network-Wide Cylinder Tracking

Our automated systems set maintenance schedules and prevent substandard cylinders from entering service by removing them at predetermined intervals for inspection and refurbishment.

Quality Verification

Cylinders moving between network locations undergo additional inspections to maintain consistent quality standards regardless of their service history or origin point.

Process Controls and Quality Standards

Standardized procedures across our network eliminate the variables that can cause inconsistencies in purity and ensure identical service quality at every location. These procedures address every aspect of the filling process.

  • Complete removal of residual contaminants: Unlike suppliers who use top-fill methods that can introduce contaminants, every Meritus partner removes all residual materials before introducing fresh solvents through standardized vacuum procedures.
  • Comprehensive inspection: Each cylinder receives a detailed internal examination to identify potential contamination sources.
  • Moisture and air evacuation: Standardized vacuum levels create identical conditions across all network locations, while automated monitoring helps prevent water contamination and oxidation.
  • DOT-compliant filling standards: Coordinated training programs and certification updates ensure technicians at every location understand proper procedures for maximizing cylinder capacity, preventing contamination and maintaining safety.

Analysis and Traceability

Our laboratory and analysis capabilities deliver faster results while maintaining high accuracy standards through coordinated efforts with each partner.

  • Certified laboratories: Our network of distributed labs reduces typical turnaround times from weeks to days by eliminating shipping delays and providing testing capabilities many competitors cannot match.
  • Cross-reference testing: Critical applications receive additional verification through samples analyzed at multiple locations to confirm results, providing redundancy that catches potential issues single-lab testing might miss.
  • Centralized data management: Traceability records maintain documentation standards while giving customers access to analytical data and certificates of compliance.
  • Emergency retesting: Backup laboratories provide rapid analytical support when time-critical situations like equipment issues or capacity constraints arise.

An Unmatched Distribution Network With Uncompromising Quality

Our network model offers many advantages that single-location suppliers cannot match. When you partner with Meritus, you get access to various independent distributors across the country specializing in their local markets while sharing best practices network-wide. This expansive network means shorter delivery times, backup supply options during emergencies and expertise drawn from an entire group of companies.

Local knowledge matters in the extraction business. Our California partners understand the unique challenges of serving the state’s diverse extraction industry, while our Texas operations excel in petrochemical applications. Meanwhile, our Midwest partners bring deep experience in food-grade processing and pharmaceutical applications.

This specialized knowledge is present across our network, benefiting every customer regardless of location.

The financial strength of our partnerships also provides stability that smaller independent suppliers cannot offer. Through coordinated purchasing agreements, we secure premium raw materials at competitive prices and then pass those savings to our customers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Browse the answers to frequently asked questions we receive about our extraction solvents and service capabilities.

Top filling means refilling a cylinder that has not been evacuated and put under vacuum. Instead, operators inject the solvent right on top of a residual product. This process is common among industrial gas filling operations and leads to inconsistent purities, uneven mix ratios and unknown contaminants that can affect your end product.

The higher the purity, the more consistent your extraction results will be. Meeting higher purities over 99.5% requires the removal of impurities and contaminants that can affect your final product quality. Lower-purity products vary in composition and can contain Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene and Xylene (BTEX) compounds, hexane, alcohol, acetone and other harmful pollutants that compromise quality and safety.

Every partner follows an identical three-step process with standardized equipment and shared training programs. Cross-partner quality audits help maintain uniform specifications, while our central quality management system can track performance metrics across all locations.

Our network offers immediate backup through neighboring partners. Our emergency protocols provide alternative sources within 24 to 48 hours, while coordinated inventory management prevents most supply disruptions from affecting customer operations.

Our collective purchasing power typically results in better pricing than individual suppliers can offer. Additionally, you receive added value through supply security, reduced risk of disruptions and access to specialized expertise through our wealth of national resources.
